Fredrik is the General Manager of the DICE Los Angeles studio and a veteran team member of the critically acclaimed Battlefield franchise. Driven by his passion for videogames and developing high-performance teams, Loving joined the award-winning DICE studio in Stockholm, Sweden in 2007 as the Development Director on the Battlefield franchise. Three years later, Loving assumed the role of Producer on Battlefield 3, one of the most successful titles in Electronic Arts’ 30-year history. After the incredible success of Battlefield 3, Loving focused his attention to building and establishing the newly formed DICE studio in Los Angeles. DICE LA delivers game-changing live-service content for one of the top gaming brands, Battlefield, and recently announced it will build an ambitious AAA title.
Writer, educator, ‘audio guy,’ competitor, community manager, copywriter, strategist – Kyle’s passion and hunger for all things gaming and entertainment has led him in numerous positions across the media landscape, working with some of the most critically and financially successful properties such as Deus Ex, Skylanders, Call of Duty, Ash vs Evil Dead, and more. Never one to rest on his laurels, he now guides Edelman through the uncharted reaches of the esports space. Although, he considers himself more of a McCoy than a Kirk, in case you’re wondering.
Matt Nutt is VP and General Manager at Glu Mobile and runs its Long Beach and San Mateo studios. Formerly Cie Games, the Long Beach studio was acquired by Glu Mobile in August of 2014 and is the leading developer of mobile racing titles including the top grossing “Racing Rivals.” In his role, Matt oversees all aspects of the studios operations including design, development, and live operations. Prior to joining Cie Games in 2013, Matt held management positions at Activision|Blizzard, Square-Enix, and Expedia. At Blizzard Entertainment, Matt helped publish record-breaking titles including DiabloIII, StarCraftII, and World of Warcraft expansions. Matt was also a founding shareholder and early member of the Expedia team that built the industry changing online travel service within Microsoft and eventually took the company public.
Matt likes to balance countless hours spent playing games with his passion for endurance races. He’s competed in many long distance triathlons, running races, and open water swims. He resides in Newport Beach, CA with his family.
Larry brings deep technical expertise having spent over 15 years in the area of animation creation and development. He was most recently the Vice President of Solutions at Metanautix, a big data analytics startup company (acquired by Microsoft). Prior to that, Larry spent 10 years at DreamWorks Animation where he held several leadership positions in the areas of character development, animation workflow, rigging, modeling, and character simulation. He also led the development efforts for the acclaimed animation software “Premo.” Larry began his career at Pixar Animation Studios as a Technical Director on the films “Monster’s Inc,” “Toy Story 2,” and “A Bug’s Life.” Larry serves on the Digital Imaging Technology Subcommittee for the Scientific and Technical Academy Awards and was the co-founder of the Digital Production Symposium (DigiPro). Larry holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in Computer Science from Stanford University.
In his role as Creative Director and Executive Producer /SMOSH Games and The WarpZone, Matt oversees operations and production for both DEFY-owned brands and leads creative and strategic direction for daily video programming reaching over 9MM subscribers combined on YouTube, along with other media and social platforms. He also works closely with brand partners on the creative execution of branded content integrations that have included successful campaigns for a range of clients such as EA Games, Microsoft, Nintendo of America, among many others. Under his guidance, SMOSH Games has been honored with a number of industry accolades, including winning the 2015 Streamy Awards for Best Gaming Channel.
Prior to joining DEFY Media, Matt was a sought-after digital focused producer, working alongside such recognized creators and brands including Freddie Wong, the Annoying Orange, Toby Turner, Epic Meal Time, and Machinima. He also worked closely with EA Games for the 2012 launch of NODE, the gaming brand’s first new media venture on YouTube.
Steven Schkolne is one of the world’s experts in 3d interface design. He wrote his PhD at Caltech on just this topic, laying the foundation for many of today’s VR builders such as TiltBrush and Quill. Upon graduating, he launched a successful app agency, creating mobile applications for Fortune 500 brands including Hasbro, Coca-Cola, and Mattel. Low-cost hardware brought Dr. Schkolne back to VR with 3dSunshine, his next-generation vision for creative building in 3d.
John Koller is the Vice-President, Marketing at PlayStation (SIE). John functions as the General Manager of the PlayStation business, responsible for all aspects of the home console (PS4/PS3), Virtual Reality, handhelds/mobile, peripherals, licensing, and digital subscription businesses. He managed the launch of the highly successful PlayStation 4 in North America, which achieved the highest sales for a first day launch platform, as well as the most first year sales, in gaming history.
Koller has over 20 years of consumer product marketing experience, including more than 18 years in the videogame industry. During his time at SCEA he has managed or assisted with the launches of all current SCEA hardware products, including the PS4, PS3, PlayStation Vita, PSP, PlayStation 2, as well as peripherals. Previously, Koller managed the marketing for the PlayStation software portfolio and launched some of the most influential franchises in the industry.
Prior to joining SCEA, Koller was the associate marketing manager for MAXIS, a videogame developer acquired by Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) in 1997, where he developed marketing strategies and launched more than 23 software titles. He also has worked for the San Francisco 49ers in Public Relations as well as Anheuser-Busch in account marketing.
Koller received his Bachelor of Science from Saint Mary’s College of California and his Masters of Business Administration from Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.
Stan Press is the Managing Director, Digital and Gaming at Magid Advisors, a strategic consultancy and research firm for the video game and digital industries. Based in San Francisco, he recently joined the Magid team to further the group’s video game industry consulting and esports efforts.
