Michael Saxs Persson has been passionately making games for more than 20 years.
Saxs has filled every role imaginable on both big and small game development teams: programmer, designer, game director, executive producer, and general manager. After immigrating from Denmark post-college, he spent most of his career in California making games.
Saxs joined the Xbox team in 2009 as Director of Xbox Live Arcade and later served as the Executive Producer and Studio Manager for Project Spark, an Xbox Game Studios creation game that allowed everyone to make their own games and share them with the world.
Saxs joined the Minecraft team in 2015 to focus on Minecraft Bedrock development, “Hour of Code” tutorials, Microsoft HoloLens, and virtual reality versions of Minecraft. He was a founding member of the Minecraft Earth team and Creative Director for the Minecraft franchise before moving into his current role of Co-Chief Creative Officer. In partnership with Jens Bergensten, Saxs is responsible for developing a unified creative vision across all aspects of the Minecraft franchise.
