Biography

Russell Binder is a founding partner of Striker Entertainment, an independent boutique entertainment licensing, merchandising, and production company. Russell is graduate of The University of California Santa Barbara class of 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a 24-year veteran of the entertainment and brand licensing business.
In 2007 Russell started his own full-service global agency calling it Striker Entertainment. With the innovative management of intellectual property as the central focus of Striker’s business, Russell has successfully built a business in the Pop Culture Licensing/Consumer Products and entertainment space.

Currently, Striker’s clients include AMC, ScottGames, Universal Cable Productions, WonderStorm, Media Rights Capital, Ghost House, Alcon Entertainment, Blink Industries amongst others . Properties, both previously and currently represented, include: The Twilight Saga, The Hunger Games, The Walking Dead, Pacific Rim, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Preacher, Kick Ass 2, TED and TED 2, Terminator Salvation, Terminator Genisys, Fingerlings, The Umbrella Academy, The Purge, and many others. In addition to breaking new ground with the brand extension of The Twilight Saga, Striker also represented the worldwide phenomenon, Angry Birds, from the early days of 5 million downloads in 2010 to over 1 Billion dollars in retail sales in 2012 in the U.S. and Canada.

On the production side of the business, in 2017 Russell served as an Executive Producer on the Candy Crush game show on CBS with Lionsgate Television, and in 2018, Striker concluded a first look deal with Blumhouse Television to build a television production business designed to build a branded content business and to help build franchises. Binder is attached to Executive Produce the Five Nights at Freddy’s motion picture at Blumhouse, Creepshow at Shudder, Trivia Quest and Peanut Bear both at Netflix, Weight of the Stars at Westbrook, and more.

Striker is an active member of LIMA (The Licensing Industry and Merchandising Association) and has been nominated for over 15, and the recipient of eight, of their most prestigious LIMA awards including the 2008 Best Film, Television, and Entertainment Brand of the Year. Russell has also credited as one of the “Top 40 under 40” in License Magazine, as a “Maverick in the Marketplace” by Royalties Magazine, and a member of licensing’s Elite from Daily Variety. Russell is a regular speaker at UCLA, Game Developers Conference, Digital Entertainment World and other forums.

Russell is happily married with two amazing children and two lucky dogs.
